Art and creative skills
This page has examples and details on several creative projects that I have participated in.
ā
Graphic skills like designing game characters can be found in my master's thesis and the game project.
ā
Programming skills I have gotten through two programming courses (with C# and Java), and some programming has been required in the making of my master's thesis.
You can jump into a specific project for example by clicking the project name in the list on the right.
ā
The order of the projects is chronological; the newest project is the highest, the oldest project is at the bottom of the page.
For my artistic and graphics skills, there is a separate portfolio in: https://evejarvinen.wixsite.com/art-and-games-pofo

Master's thesis
Instead of a traditional research- or literacy-based thesis, it is possible to make a master's thesis as a project, like creating a learning material package.

Programming course 2
On the second programming course at the University of Jyväskylä, every student makes an application using Java programming language. This can be either an individual work or a group project.
ā
The original plan for my app can be found here. The plan includes a link to the project Git, a plan of the app and documentation on the process.

Here are some screenshots and a short video example of the application I made. Taken in May 2022.

A comic
As a part of teacher's studies, we had to make any kind of a project on our own philosophy as a teacher. The project form was free to choose. My chosen form was a short comic representing my past, present and future from a teacher's point of view. The comic is only available in Finnish.

FantasyPunk
Team Dystopia made a short roguelite-style game, with a world combining fantasy and cyperpunk elements.
Gameplay trailer
Trailer has gameplay examples from start to finish. The playing, filming and editing are made by me.
Game project course
This was a university course, where in organized groups we planned and made a short game. Project mirrored a proper game studio and our roles were pre-assigned according to our applications.
Team Dystopia
Our project team took "Dystopia" as our name, based off our first game ideas. In the beginning of the course I designed us a logo, and we ended up using it throughout the course.

Our team had seven people in it:
producer Niko Ollikka, game designer Pietari Ritoranta, programmers Joni Kiviluoto and Niko Sihvo, graphic designers Eveliina Järvinen and Mikko Lindqvist, and sound designer Tiia Pietilä.
Graphics examples
We divided the workload with my graphic designer partner so that I made the enemies, UI (including mouse pointer(s), weapon imagery and life bar) and the static screens. Game text font is also made by me.
In the gallery on right are some images and character sprites I made.
ā
Graphics as a part of the game can be seen in the trailer above.
The mouse pointers (below) were designed by me.

Programming course 1
During the first programming course at the university of Jyväskylä, we created a short game using C# and Jypeli-library.

Unfortunately both the code and the working game .exe have been lost.
